Misfits 03:10
I’m feeling low as I’m getting high Staying over at my dad's place almost every night And as much as I’m a dreamer I still can’t deny That I’m often just a fool and start believing my own lies Maybe our ship is going down Cause we try to hard impressing others We could leave to stay on our own Until we really recognize another Maybe storms are hiding in the clouds Cause we’re just too scared of all our thunder Let’s keep our ship from sinking now And start by recognizing all the colours Taking it slow as I’m wasting time Maybe I’m just scared I could fail trying and I wonder why Why my head is blocking me now to write another line As I start to search the web I stop believing in my own rhymes Maybe storms are hiding in the clouds Cause we’re just too scared of all our thunder Let’s keep our ship from sinking now And start by recognizing all the colours Please forgive I couldn’t tell You wanted me to be somebody else Please leave me by myself Cause I better be a fucking rebell Maybe storms are hiding in the clouds Cause we’re just too scared of all our thunder Let’s keep our ship from sinking now And start by recognizing all the colours I swear to myself that I say goodbye To waiting for somebody else fixing problems I’m having in life And as far as I know nothing can stop me from starting tonight If I find a way to shut up these voices in the back of my mind

about

Newly signed to hfn music, PaulWetz brings his singular, enchanting songwriting and production gifts to a new level for a new year.

Hailing from the Black Forest areas of Southern Germany, Wetz has been honing his skills since first picking up a guitar aged 9. His Surrender EP from 2018 announced his arrival in style - catching the ear of various tastemakers and receiving strong support from Radio 1 and Triple J.

Three years later his skills as a storyteller and conjurer of pop hooks is even more assured.

The new single ‘Misfits’ marries thoughtful lyrics with production chops that rival some of his key influences - Aha and Depeche Mode included.

Misfits was written in his friend’s home studio - an electronic take on what started out as an indie rock track. Built around a low slung bass line and a synth horn melody, Paul’s affecting vocals sit perfectly as he mediates on self confidence and accepting yourself.

The release will be accompanied by a charming music video.
